Remove/Install Fuel Tank - Ar47.10-D-4100TSR

Model 907 with engine 642, 651

  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risl of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open and close fuel filler cap. IMPORTANT To reduce the pressure in the fuel tank (1)  
2 Empty the fuel tank (1).   AR47.10-D-4001TS 
3 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-D-1000-04TS
Special instructions for lifting and supporting vehicle   AH00.60-N-0100-01TS
4 Remove underbody paneling. Model 907 with code XM1 (Noise abatement measures)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install underfloor paneling only after the leak test.

5 Remove hose (2). NOTES
Catch fuel running out with suitable vessel. Damage will otherwise occur.
IMPORTANT To do this, loosen the clamps (3).

INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The markings (arrows) on the hose (2), fuel tank (1) and filler neck must be aligned with each other.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check the hose (2) and clamps (3).
Depending on the findings,

Replace affected components.
 
6 Disconnect electrical connector (4).    
7 Disconnect the fuel lines (5, 6). NOTES
Catch fuel running out with suitable vessel. Damage will otherwise occur.
IMPORTANT Seal the fuel lines (5, 6).

8 Disconnect the fuel line (7). Model 907 with engine 642, 651

NOTES

IMPORTANT Seal the fuel line (7).

9 Support fuel tank (1).    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate IMPORTANT Secure the fuel tank (1) against falling down using suitable tools. WS26.00-P-3309B
10 Remove the tensioning straps (8). IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolts (9). The number of tensioning straps (8) varies depending on equipment installed.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front fuel tank tensioning strap to frame *BA47.10-N-1002-01TS 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, fuel tank tensioning strap to frame center *BA47.10-N-1003-01TS 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear fuel tank tensioning strap to frame *BA47.10-N-1004-01TS 
11 Remove fuel tank (1). IMPORTANT Lower the fuel tank (1).  
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts. AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
12 Remove the heat shield (10). Deburr repair panels.

with code XM1 (Noise reduction)
If the fuel tank (1)/heat shield (10) is replaced.
IMPORTANT To do this, remove the expansion rivets (11).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check the expansion rivets (11).
Depending on the findings,

Replace the affected expansion rivet (11).
 
13 Remove the fuel pump and fill level sensor. If the fuel pump and fill level sensor or fuel tank (1) are replaced. AR47.20-D-7000TSF 
14 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
15 Switch on ignition. NOTES Before the engine is started, leave the ignition switched on up until the end of delivery from the fuel pump so that fuel is present at the high-pressure fuel pump when the engine is started.
This helps to prevent damage to the fuel system.
 
16 Start engine.    
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
17 Test the fuel system in the area of the fuel tank (1) for leaks. NOTES
Remove any fuel that has leaked out. Damage will otherwise occur.
 
18 Switch off engine.
