WARNING Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Open a sliding door or lower a side window of a front door.    
2 Check the setting of the left and right rear-end door. If the left or right rear-end door is not set correctly,

Adjust the left and right rear-end door.

3 Remove door trim of the respective rear-end door. Model 907.6/7 with code VA5 (full liner on hinged rear doors) AR72.20-D-6615TS
4 Remove wiper motor of the respective rear-end door. Model 907.6/7 with code W78 (window in liftgate or hinged rear door with wiper and washer system) AR82.30-D-6551TS
5 Disconnect electrical connectors (5) of the rear window heater from the respective rear window (1).    
WARNING Risk of injury  from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass when cutting out bonded windows Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. AS67.00-Z-0004-01A 
6 Cut out respective rear window (1) with the windshield removal tool. NOTES
Cut out rear window (1) carefully.
Otherwise the adjacent components can be damaged.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Windshield removal tool case
IMPORTANT Punch tubular probe for cutting wire through adhesive seam at an easily accessible point.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.

CLEAN Clean     
7 Remove remaining adhesive material from body flange. IMPORTANT Cut residual adhesive down to approx. 1 mm and remove loose adhesive material.  
8 Vacuum off any glass splinters and contamination. IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Wet and dry vacuum cleaner
 
9 Clean bonding area at body flange using a cleaner and wipe dry using a dry cloth. NOTES The bonding area must be free of dust and grease.
Otherwise the adhesive force of the adhesive material starts to decrease.
 
INSTALLING Install     
10 Use primer stick to repair body flange.
General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area
In case of damage to the body flange. AH98.00-P-9408-06A
    NOTES If the degree of damage is ≤ 10%, repair with primer stick. If the degree of damage is > 10 %, coat body flange with primer filler.
Otherwise corrosion damage may occur.
IMPORTANT Use only primer fillers and primer sticks approved by Daimler AG:

If degree of damage to body flange is > 10%:

Coat body flange with primer filler.
IMPORTANT Observe the manufacturer's specifications for the curing and processing time of the primer filler.
 
11 Apply primer to the primed surface on the body flange.
General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area
NOTES Do not apply primer on residual adhesive material.
Otherwise, the adhesive effect will be impaired.
NOTES The primer must flash off for at least 10 min. Otherwise the adhesive force of the adhesive material starts to decrease

12 Install new rubber window spacers (4). IMPORTANT Place new rubber window spacers (4) as shown at the intended locations on the inside of the rear window (1).  
13 Attach spacers (3) to the respective window cutout. IMPORTANT To prevent the rear window (1) from lowering, attach two SPECIAL TOOL spacers (3) to the bottom of the window cutout. For the correct lateral alignment, one SPECIAL TOOL spacer (3) is sufficient on the window cutout.

14 Prepare adhesive cartridge. IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Electric or pneumatic squeeze gun

15 Prepare respective rear window (1) for installation.   AR67.20-D-5145-03TS 
    Repair kit for installing windshields, 1-component adhesive *BR00.45-Z-1180-02A 
16 Glue in respective rear window (1).   AR67.20-D-5145-02TS 
    IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Cup suction tool/shackle (for removing and installing windows)
Electric or pneumatic squeeze gun
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
 
    Repair kit for installing windshields, 1-component adhesive *BR00.45-Z-1180-02A

17 Connect electrical connectors (5) of the rear window heater to the respective rear window (1).    
18 Install wiper motor of the respective rear-end door. Model 907.6/7 with code W78 (window in liftgate or hinged rear door with wiper and washer system) AR82.30-D-6551TS
19 Install door trim of the respective rear-end door. Model 907.6/7 with code VA5 (full liner on hinged rear doors) AR72.20-D-6615TS
20 Remove spacers (3). IMPORTANT Observe curing time of the adhesive material (at least 2 hours).

CLEAN Clean     
21 Clean rear window (1) and vehicle interior.    
INSPECT Check     
22 Perform function check of the rear window heater.
