Remove/Install Engine Hood Catch - Ar88.40-D-3201TS

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Mark hood catch installation position IMPORTANT To do this, mark the installation position of the hood catch upper section (1) and hood catch lower section (3).  
2 Remove hood catch upper section (1) IMPORTANT Remove screws (6) for this.  
3 Remove hood catch lower section (3) from bumper crossmember IMPORTANT Unscrew the screws (4) for this.  
4 Remove hood cable (2) from hood catch lower section (3) NOTES
Do not kink hood cable (2).
Otherwise malfunction can occur.		  
INSTALLING Install     
5 Install hood catch upper section (1) IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.
IMPORTANT To do this, screw in bolts (6) loosely by hand.		  
6 Install hood cable (2) on hood catch lower section (3) NOTES
Do not kink hood cable (2).
Otherwise malfunction can occur.		  
7 Attach hood catch lower section (3) to bumper crossmember IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.
IMPORTANT To do this, screw in bolts (4) loosely by hand.		  
INSPECT Check     
8 Check engine hood lock IMPORTANT To do this, close hood and pull upward with a slight jerk.
Engine hood can be opened.
↓
Adjust hood catch.
Adjust engine hood		 AR88.40-D-3020TS 
9 Check function of safety hook on hood catch upper section (1) IMPORTANT Activate lever of hood cable in vehicle interior. The hood must then catch on the safety hook when opening the hood. Engine hood can be opened.
↓
Adjust hood catch.
Adjust engine hood		 AR88.40-D-3020TS 
10 Check gap dimensions and height offset of the hood   AR88.40-D-3020TS 
11 Tighten screws (6) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, upper section of hood catch to hood *BA88.40-N-1003-01TS 
12 Tighten screw/bolts (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, lower section of hood catch to assembly carrier *BA88.40-N-1004-01TS
