Engine Management, Basic Function - GF05.00-P-9901A
Engine all (CAR)
General
The engine management system includes all processes that are essential in order to achieve economic and ecological engine operation. It includes various subsystems that influence the running of the engine through checking, optimizing or regulating it.
In order to influence the running of the engine, the engine management system records sensor data directly or via bus systems. The engine management system processes these sensor data and controls the required actuators in order to carry out the required function.
Engine management
The engine management is subdivided into the following systems:
- Basic system functions
- Engine system
- Mixture formation
- Air control system
- Heat management
Basic system functions
- Control unit diagnosis
- Fault memory
- European On-Board Diagnostics (EOBD)
- Diagnosis via CAN
- CAN network
- Flash programming
- Transport mode
- Variant coding
- Drive authorization system 4 (DAS 4)
- Torque coordination
- Heat management
- Alternator control function
- Synchronization
- Load determination
- Maximum vehicle speed limit
Diagnosis
For diagnostic purposes, the fault codes of the engine management system can be read out and deleted using XENTRY Diagnostics, and individual diagnostic functions can be specifically actuated.
CAN network
The combustion engine control unit exchanges data with other control units that are integrated into the CAN network. The combustion engine control unit is also connected to the drive LIN and exchanges data via it.
Flash programming
The engine management in the combustion engine control unit is flashable, meaning that the complete software in the control unit can be exchanged using XENTRY Diagnostics (replaced).
Variant coding
Using variant coding, the following vehicle versions and equipment can be coded using XENTRY Diagnostics:
- Vehicle model
- National version
- Exhaust variants
- Transmission version
Engine system
- Starter relay actuation
- Throttle valve control
- Safety fuel shutoff
