General
The rear switch module (1) enables the function to open, stop or close a tailgate, a trunk lid or a rear-end door in a contactless manner via a defined foot movement under the bumper in combination with a transmitter key or smartphone.
The rear switch module (1) is located behind the trim of the rear bumper and evaluates the signals of the following sensors:
- Rear switching module upper sensor
- Rear switching module lower sensor
Function
The rear switch module (1) contains, among other things, a radar, electric lines and a control unit.
A targeted kick movement under the rear bumper is detected by the sensors. The rear switch module (1) evaluates the sensor signals and transmits corresponding information to the central locking system.
If the KEYLESS-GO function is deactivated, the HANDS-FREE ACCESS function is also deactivated.
In combination with a trailer coupling, difficulties can occur regarding the detection of the foot movement. The foot movement must in this case be realized beside the trailer coupling.
