	Remove/install
1.1	Empty fuel tank (1) with fuel pump.	Model 213, 238, 257, 290 with engine 256.9 If fuel pump is intact.	AR47.10-P-4001MSA
1.2	Empty fuel tank (1) using fuel transfer pump.	Model 213, 238, 257, 290 with engine 256.9 With defective fuel pump.	AR47.10-P-4000MSA
1.3	Empty the fuel tank (1).	In the case of a defective and intact fuel pump Model 257 with engine 264	AR47.10-P-4001OLC
2	Release and disconnect electrical connector o fuel pump.	Where fuel tank (1) is emptied using fuel transfer pump.

8	Unscrew screw (12); remove washer (13) and heat shield (11).	Insert pulley (13) between fuel tank filler pipe (10) and body.

13	Release and disconnect fuel lines from separating points (2), seal openings with,	Record plug	Fig 2
	suitable stop plugs, and collect escaping fuel in a suitable container.
14	Support fuel tank (1).

15	Remove cap from heat shield (3).
16	Remove screws (6) and remove tensioning straps (8).	Screw/bolt, fuel tank/tensioning strap to vehicle floor	*BA47.10-P-1001-01P
17	Lower fuel tank (1) slowly and remove.

18	Remove right fill level sensor.	When replacing the fuel tank (1).

19	Remove purge line from fuel tank (1).	When replacing the fuel tank (1).
20	Remove heat shield (3) from fuel tank (1).	When replacing the fuel tank (1).
21	Install in the reverse order.
22	Read out and delete fault memory.

	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. 23	Perform an engine test run; when doing so, check the engine for proper operation and the fuel system for leaks.
