General
For a stationary vehicle, the ECO start/stop function switches the engine off automatically and starts it again, as soon as the driver wishes to drive off.
Function requirements
- Ignition ON (circuit 15)
- Engine management ON (circuit 87M)
- ECO start/stop function activated
- Coolant temperature between 60 and 115 ?
- Transmission oil temperature between 10 and 120 ? (automatic or dual-clutch transmission)
- Engine speed in specified value range
- Transmission position D, P, or N (automatic or dual-clutch transmission)
- Accelerator not operated
- Service brake actuated up to standstill of the vehicle
- Adequate vacuum in the brake booster
- No control intervention functions from the brake and driver assistance systems
- Engine hood closed
- Crash signal not available
- On-board electrical system voltage sufficient
- Interior temperature regulated
- No previous maximum full-stop braking
Function
During the drive, the involved control units check the required signals for an automatic stop. For this purpose, the combustion engine control unit reads out all relevant data and issues the stop enable during vehicle stillstand if applicable.
