Location
The CDI control unit is located at the left next to the engine.
Task
The CDI control unit and the powertrain control unit (N127) operate in an electrical network with the sensors and actuators to form the engine management for engine 626.
The following systems and functions are controlled and coordinated by these control units according to input signals:
- Fuel supply
- Control of glow system
- Injection quantity control
- Diagnosis and fault storage
- Drive authorization system (DAS 4) and immobilizer
- Thermal management
- Torque interface
- Alternator interface
- Exhaust gas recirculation
- Exhaust treatment
- Start/stop
The CDI control unit has an internal atmospheric pressure sensor. The complete communication with the CAN network takes place over the powertrain control unit as a gateway.

Body
The housing of the CDI control unit is made of die-cast aluminum and the cover is made of corrosion-proof sheet steel. The CDI control unit is water proof and dust proof.
Power supply
The CDI control unit is supplied with power by "circuit 30 fused" and, with the ignition on, by "circuit 87". In the operating voltage range it has both short-circuit protection and reversed polarity protection. Power is supplied through several engaged parallel pins connected in parallel to relieve the electrical connections.
Ground connection
"Circuit 31" ground connection is connected through multiple ground lines to the internal combustion engine ground point (W11).
Variants
The variants of the engine management, for exampled country and exhaust variants, are activated with XD over the variant coding. Replacement of the CDI control unit is not necessary.
