	Remove/install
1	Detach ground line from battery		AR54.10-P-0003W
2	Remove lower engine compartment paneling		AR61.20-P-1105W
3	Remove heat shield on right engine mount	Engine 276.8 in model 172 Bolt, heat shield to engine support	*BA22.10-P-1003-02A
4	Remove heat shield (1)
5	Detach wiring harness on starter (M1)		AR15.30-P-7100-03W
		Nut, connection for terminal designation 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01J
		Nut, connection for terminal designation 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01J
6	Detach starter (M1) at crank case	Bolt, starter to crank case/transmission	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
7	Remove starter (M1) from below
	Check
8	Turn engine at the center bolt of crankshaft in direction of engine rotation and check the starter ring gear on clutch plate for wear and damage	When replacing the starter (M1). Socket wrench bit For wear or damage ↓ Replace drive plate.	Fig 2

9	Install in the reverse order
