Impact Detection, Basic Function - GF91.60-P-1002A

Model all (CAR)

Overview

This document contains the following information:

The impact detection records accident events. By evaluating the signals from various sensors, it is possible to differentiate between individual types of collision and to record the level of vehicle deceleration. The corresponding restraint equipment is triggered to match the situation.

Function requirement

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit evaluates signals from the following sensors:

The lateral acceleration of the vehicle is also evaluated. This is detected by an acceleration sensor in the SRS control unit.

The SRS control unit differentiates between the following accident scenarios by evaluating sensor data:

IMPORTANT The traffic area in front of the vehicle is monitored with radar assistance. This makes it possible to detect an imminent collision at an early stage. The respective deployment points of the restraint equipment are adapted in accordance with the situation. On vehicles equipped with the Driving Assistance Package, the traffic area to the rear of the vehicle is also monitored.
