Mentor Qualifications/Requirements
The required qualifications must be identified in order for the mentor to be effective. Technical qualifications are required but "soft" skills are equally important. TMC recommends mentors demonstrate excellent performance in these areas to be successful:
- Technical skills (mid - to upper-level)
- Coaching
- Communications (both written and verbal)
- Time management
- Problem solving
- Safety record
- Understanding shop/company safety policies and procedures
- Repair record (fix it right)
- Organization
- Integrity and trust
- Patience
- Approachbility
- Required certifications (keeps current)
- Service literature navigation skills
- Computer skills
- Customer service skills (both internal and external)
