Active Transmission mounting
To improve comfort and vehicle dynamics, the left active transmission mount (Y124) and the right active transmission mount (Y124/1) are installed at the transmission.
A metalized fluid inside the active transmission mounts reacts with a change in viscosity to the magnetic field generated by the left active transmission mount coil (Y124l1) or the right active transmission mount coil (Y124/1l1). This in turn influences the rigidity of the active transmission mounts. When the engine is idling with soft transmission mounts, this provides greater comfort by reducing the transmission of vibrations from the drivetrain to the body. When the vehicle is being driven, stiffening of the active transmission mounts results in more precise steering and increased vehicle dynamics.
The specified status of the active transmission mounts is calculated by the AMG suspension control unit (N3/43). The AMG suspension control unit evaluates the following variables to implement the function:
- Engine running, engine speed and accelerator pedal position
The ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) transmits the "Engine running" signal, the engine speed and the accelerator pedal position via the drive CAN (CAN C1) to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Requested gear, start-off clutch torque and output speed of transmission
The dual-clutch transmission control unit (N15/13) transmits the requested gear signal, the start-off clutch torque and the output speed of the transmission via the drive CAN to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Brake pedal status, ESP® mode and wheel speeds
The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) transmits the status of the brake pedal, the ESP® mode and the wheel speeds via chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Steering wheel angle and steering wheel velocity
The steering column tube module control unit (N80) transmits information about the steering wheel angle and the steering wheel velocity via chassis CAN 1 to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Active damping control mode
The AMG gateway control unit (N93/9) reads in the AMG suspension button (S193/2) directly and transmits the status of the AMG suspension button via the drive CAN to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Terminal 15 status
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit status of circuit 15 and circuit 87 via the interior CAN (CAN-B) to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Status of Transmission mounts
The active transmission mounts control unit (N3/44) reads in the statuses of the active transmission mount coils directly and transmits them via the AMG CAN to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Pressure conditions of active Transmission mounts
The left active transmission mount pressure sensor (Y124b1) and the right active transmission mount pressure sensor (Y124/1b1) sense the pressure conditions in the active transmission mounts.
The active transmission mounts control unit reads in the signals of the active transmission mount pressure sensors directly and transmits them via the AMG CAN to the AMG suspension control unit.
- Status of active Transmission mount control
The active transmission mounts control unit transmits the status of the active transmission mount control via the AMG CAN to the AMG suspension control unit.
To implement the function, the AMG suspension control unit transmits the following signals and requests via the AMG CAN to the active transmission mounts control unit:
- Circuit status
- Engine running status
- Active engine mount, request
- Mode, request
The active transmission mounts control unit actuates the active transmission mount coils accordingly.
