WARNING Risk of injury  due to fan starting unexpectedly Do not reach into the rotation or hazard area of the fan. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. AS20.40-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove leak oil line bracket and place to one side   AR07.03-P-9105OGR
2 Detach engine wiring harness from left cylinder head cover and charge air distributor on right cylinder head, and press to side    
3 Release and disconnect electrical connections of glow plugs (R9) SPECIAL TOOL Pliers Fig 4
4 Remove glow plugs (R9) NOTES
If release torque of glow plugs (R9) is greater than 25 Nm, bringing the engine to operating temperature is recommended.
To prevent glow plugs (R9) from tearing off.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Wrench socket Fig 3
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 2
INSPECT Check     
5 Check glow plug wells for contamination IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Cylinder brush, Perlon, Ø 6 mm
Cylinder brush, Perlon, Ø 10 mm
In the case of complaints.

Clean glow plug wells.
 
INSTALLING Install     
6 Screw in glow plugs (R9) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Glow plug to cylinder head *BA15.20-P-1001-01F 
    SPECIAL TOOL Wrench socket Fig 3
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 2
7 Connect electrical connections to glow plugs (R9)    
8 Attach engine wiring harness for left cylinder head cover and charge air distributor IMPORTANT Replace removed cable ties.  
9 Attach leak oil line bracket   AR07.03-P-9105OGR
