The steering wheel heater increases the temperature on the steering wheel rim thereby improving driver comfort, in particular, at low outside temperatures.
Function requirement
- Interior temperature below approx. 30°C
Function
The steering wheel heater is controlled by the steering wheel electronics. Heat is provided by a heating element in the steering wheel rim. A temperature sensor in the heating element records the surface temperature of the steering wheel rim. The steering wheel electronics read in the signals from the temperature sensor and regulate the surface temperature of the steering wheel rim to approx. 35°C.
The steering wheel heater is operated using a switch on the steering column tube. If the steering wheel heater is switched on, an LED lights up in the steering wheel heater switch.
