Powertrain Control Unit, Basic Function - GF54.21-P-9894A
ENGINE all (CAR)
Task
The powertrain control unit serves as an interface (gateway) between the combustion engine control unit, the Electronic Stability Program control unit and the connected bus systems.
The powertrain control unit primarily intervenes in the following functions:
- Engine management
- Heat management
In order to carry out these functions, the powertrain control unit primarily processes the following input factors:
- Engine management ON (circuit 87)
- With code M608: Charge air cooler coolant temperature
- Fan motor status
- Accelerator pedal sensor
- Start/stop button
- With manual transmission: Clutch travel sensor
- With manual transmission: Main shifter shaft position sensor
The powertrain control unit processes these input factors and controls the following actuators depending on the engine variants:
- Exhaust flap controller
- Fan motor
- Radiator trim flap actuator motor
- Transmission oil cooling coolant circulation pump
- Charge air cooler circulation pump
- Coolant pump switchover valve
