Update Powertrain Control Module, Engine and Transmission Software
Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the software in the Powertrain control module, Engine and Transmission Control Modules may not meet current production configuration. To correct this condition an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the Powertrain control module, Engine and Transmission Control Module software at the next dealer visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
- Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
- Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Approximately 512 vehicles are affected.
PROCEDURE
NOTE:
- Use DAS/Xentry 05-06/2015 with add-on 4522 or higher.
- Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.
- Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).
- Ensure all electrical consumers are switched-off.
- In the event of software/SCN update issues, contact Star Diagnosis User Help Desk. Please refer to the "pre-call" check list before contacting UHD
- Refer to Star Diagnosis System (SDS) Best Practices Guide.
- Update software for PTCU (powertrain control module) software: Quick test view / PTCU (powertrain control unit) / Control unit adaptations / Control unit programming
- Follow on-screen instructions.
NOTE:
The software update for the engine and transmission control module starts automatically afterwards.
Otherwise the following menu items are to be selected:
- Quick test view / ME motor electronics "MED1775" for combustion engine "M178" / Control unit adaptations / Control unit programming.
- Quick test view / DKG (electronic transmission control for dual clutch transmission N15/13) / Control unit adaptations / Control unit programming.
NOTE:
The following allowable labor operation should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair:

- Star Diagnosis System (SDS), Connect/disconnect (02-4762)
- Update software for powertrain control module (02-9102)
- Update engine control module software (02-9103)
