Location

The Supplemental Restraint System control unit is located on the center tunnel.

Task

The Supplemental Restraint System control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line

The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:

IMPORTANT The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) reads in the status of the left rear seat belt buckle switch (S68/5), the right rear seat belt buckle switch (S68/6) as well as the center rear seat belt buckle switch (S68/14) and transmits these via the interior CAN (CAN B), the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and the chassis CAN (up to 28.2.13) or chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) (as of 1.3.13) to the Supplemental Restraint System control unit.

Chassis CAN (up to 28.2.13 with code (U10) Front passenger seat with weight sensing)

The status of the seat occupied recognition is sent by the Weight Sensing System (WSS) control unit (N110) via the interior CAN, the front SAM control unit and the chassis CAN to the Supplemental Restraint System control unit.

Seat occupied LIN (as of 1.3.13 with code (U10) Front passenger seat with weight sensing or code (U18) Automatic child seat recognition (ACSR))

The WSS control unit or the seat occupied recognition and front passenger seat ACSR transmits the status of the seat occupied recognition via the seat occupied LIN to the Supplemental Restraint System control unit.

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

Direct line

The following components are actuated via a direct line:

Chassis CAN (up to 28.2.13)

The signals are sent by the Supplemental Restraint System control unit over the chassis CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Chassis CAN 1 (as of 1.3.13)

The signals are sent by the supplemental restraint system control unit via chassis CAN 1. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
