Intelligent radar sensor control unit, component description - GF30.30-P-3305FQ
MODEL 218 with CODE (234) Blind Spot Assist
Location
The left radar sensor is mounted on the left on the left inner side of the rear bumper while left radar sensor is mounted on the right on the right inner side of the rear bumper.
Task
The radar sensors detect vehicles in the blind spot via the integrated radar sensor system.
The radar sensors are ultra wideband radar sensors with the following properties:
- Radar sensor detection range 0.18 m to 3 m at a resolution of 0.04 m
- Detection angle of 60° with angle measurement and 130° with detection only
- Radar sensor with 24.125 GHz carrier frequency
- Operation: short pulse method with 5 GHz bandwidth
The radar sensors work according to the Master/Slave principle. The master or slave function can be determined via the connector coding. The master function is determined for the right radar sensor.
In other words, the left radar sensor transmits its information via the front end CAN (CAN G) to the right radar sensor, which evaluates the information from both radar sensors passes on the corresponding requests or data via the front end CAN to the control units affected.
For this purpose the radar sensors fulfill the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The radar sensor on the left and the radar sensor on the right respectively receives the following information via the front end CAN:
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Status of engine control
- Status of function "Blind Spot Assist"
- Wheel speeds and wheel rotation direction
- Global Positioning System (GPS) signals
- Flasher status
The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessors and the relevant components are then actuated.
Output of signals
The radar sensor on the left transmits the following signals via the front end CAN:
- Blind Spot Assist warning output, request
- Operating condition, status
The right radar sensor transmits the following signals via the front end CAN:
- 'Warning buzzer' request (A1h1)
- Request for the multifunction display (A1p13)
- Request to the left Blind Spot Assist readiness and warning indicator (M21/1e2) and the right Blind Spot Assist readiness and warning indicator (M21/2e2)
The left radar sensor transmits detection data to the right radar sensor via the front end CAN which uses it to generate the requests to emit a warning.
