Location

4 multi-disk brakes made up of multi-disk brake B1 (7), multi-disk brake B3 (10), multi-disk brake BR (13) and multi-disk brake B2 (15) are arranged in the planetary gear systems in the transmission housing.

Task

To support the ring gear, sun gear or planet carrier of a planetary gear set relative to the transmission housing, to transmit the drive torque.

Design

A multidisk brake consists of several internally toothed plates (110) on an internal plate carrier and externally toothed plates (99) on an external plate carrier. The external plate carrier is permanently connected to the transmission housing. Single sided disks are used on the multidisk brakes B1 and B3 (7, 10). On this type of lamella the friction lining is only applied on one side.

Among other things, this improves heat distribution in the disk pack, the design of the disk pack is more compact, the load-bearing capacity is increased and the mass is reduced. Coated disks continue to be used on both sides of the multidisk brakes B2 and BR (15, 13).
