Task

The multifunction camera records pictures of the area in front of the vehicle. These data are processed in the internal control unit of the multifunction camera and serve the conversion of various functions. The multifunction camera has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connection:

Chassis CAN

The signals are read in by the multifunction camera via the chassis CAN.

The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Control of systems

The multifunction camera controls the following systems:

IMPORTANT To prevent fogging in the field of view of the multifunction camera, this part of the windshield is heated. Heating is controlled by the multifunction camera.

Component actuation

The signals are sent by the multifunction camera via the chassis CAN.

The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Design

The multifunction camera consists of the following main components:

IMPORTANT The multifunction camera should be calibrated after exchanging the multifunction camera or windshield.
