Scanning the functions 

The signals from the following buttons

• Scroll forward/back button (S110s1),
• System selection button (S110s3),
• + and - button for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1)
• Accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) are read in by the steering column module (N80) through the LIN (Local Interconnect Network).

The steering column module transmits the signals from the buttons for further processing to the Controller Area Network Bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) and over the central gateway (N93) to the Controller Area Network-Bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B), where they are further transmitted to the corresponding control units.
