Side impact, function 

If the left sidebag and windowbag sensor (A53/1) or right sidebag and windowbag sensor (A54/1) detects a side impact collision, the relevant accident data are transmitted to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) checks the plausibility of the signal and if appropriate activates the squibs for the sidebag and the windowbag on the affected vehicle side:

IMPORTANT The front passenger seat sidebag is only triggered if the front passenger seat belt buckle restraint system switch (S68/4) has been operated and the front passenger seat has been recognized as occupied by the front passenger seat occupancy/child seat recognition (B48).
