  Front emergency belt tensioner, location The driver ETR ignition squib (R12/1) and the front passenger ETR ignition squib (R12/2) are in the B-pillars behind the paneling.  
  Front emergency belt tensioner - task The ETR takes up the seat belt slack if a head on or rear end collision occurs and prevents the film reel effect of the seat belt. The tightened belt gives the passenger better protection from injury.
