Component description for the pressure sensor - GF07.04-P-6060AMG

ENGINE 156.980 in MODEL 164, 251 up to Model Year 8

ENGINE 156.982 in MODEL 209

ENGINE 156.983 in MODEL 211, 219

ENGINE 156.984 in MODEL 216, 221 up to Model Year 8

Location

The pressure sensor is located at the right front on variable intake manifold.

Task

The pressure sensor detects the absolute pressure in the intake pipe.

The intake manifold pressure serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) to detect the air mass at a start. For a started engine signals from the left or right hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/6 or B2/7) are monitored.

Function

The intake manifold pressure deforms the membrane which acts on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the voltage signal in such a way that it serves the ME-SFI [ME] control unit as information about the intake manifold pressure.

The pressure sensor measuring range lies between 0.1 and 1.2 bar.

Example:

Intake manifold pressure Voltage signal

1.2 bar

4.5 V

0.8 bar

3.3 V

0.1 bar

0.5 V
