Location
The airbag system assist is located on each inside of the longitudinal member in the vicinity of the B-pillar.
Task
The airbag system assists record the acceleration values in the vicinity of the B-pillars for early detection of a side impact. They perform a self-test and transmit the result to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7). The recorded acceleration values are periodically transmitted to the restraint systems control unit in digital form.
The measuring range and sensitivity of the airbag system assist are sent to the restraint systems control unit on request and checked for conformity with the programmed equipment.
The production data can be output via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
