COMPLAINT

Poor Engine Performance

CAUSE

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicle of poor engine performance when the engine is hot, the cause may be due to the low temperature cooler circuits overheating due to the following causes. To resolve, perform the associated remedy.

Condition 1:  Coolant loss through leaking low temperature cooler covers.

NOTE: As of February 28, 2006, Condition 1 of this DTB must not be performed on Model 199 - Serial Nos. M000018 to M000697, Covered under Service Campaign No. 2006020004 . Combining this DTB with the above referenced Campaign will result in a charge back of this DTB.

Condition 2:  Coolant hose(s) kinked restricting water flow.

Condition 3:  Low temperature cooling pumps loose or moving in mountings of engine.

Condition 4:  Low temperature cooler pump(s) seized or seizing.

REMEDY

Remedy 1:  Replace covers with new parts number A155 501 03 15 (left side) and A155 501 02 15 (right side) using two screws/cover (part number N000000 004068).

Remedy 2:  Reposition or replace any kinked or deformed hoses.

Remedy 3:  Replace locating straps with new heat resistant straps, part no. A345 997 75 90 as shown in Fig 1 and Fig 2 .

Remedy 4:  Replace defective low temperature cooler pumps. Defective low temperature cooler pumps can be diagnosed with DAS; i.e., DAS will indicate which cylinder bank is overheating. Replace only the pump that feeds the overheating cylinder bank.

NOTE: The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair. This information has been generated on July 25, 2007. Please refer to Netstar -> Star TekInfo -> Star Time for the most current labor time allowance.
