	Remove/install
	Notes on performing repair, body work and welding on vehicles with airbags and ETR units		AH91.00-P-0002-01M
	Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge		AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1	Remove left side trim panel (1) or right side trim panel (2) in rear compartment		AR68.30-P-4780R
2	Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit	On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go, press the Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove the Keyless Go transmitter card or transmitter key from the vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (min. 2 m).
3	Disconnect electrical connector (3) from left sidebag sensor (A53) or electrical connector (5) from right sidebag sensor (A54)
4	Unscrew bolts (4 or 6) and remove left sidebag sensor (A53) or right sidebag sensor (A54)	Installation:  The arrows on the left sidebag sensor (A53) or the right sidebag sensor (A54) must point outwards.

5	Install in the reverse order
6	Check supplemental restraint system (SRS) with the aid of STAR DIAGNOSIS	Only when the left sidebag sensor (A53) or right sidebag sensor (A54) has been removed.
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
