Remove/install driver kneebag - AR91.60-P-0200SX

MODEL 216, 221 as of 1.9.08 with CODE (294) Kneebag

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Notes on performing repair, body work and welding on vehicles with airbags or emergency tensioning retractor units   AH91.00-P-0002-01M
IMPORTANT Assessment of airbag and emergency tensioning retractor units in accident vehicles   AH91.00-P-0006-01B
IMPORTANT Legal regulations on handling and storing airbags and emergency tensioning retractor units   AH91.00-P-0004-01A
1 Adjust driver seat and steering column all the way back    
2 Connect ground line to starter battery and to on-board electrical system battery   AR54.10-P-0003SX
3 Remove cover under dashboard (6)   AR68.10-P-1500SX
4 Remove screw/bolt (7) at air duct (8)    
5 Remove air duct (8) from air conditioner housing IMPORTANT Retaining clip at air conditioner housing.  
6 Remove electric parking brake switch (S76/15)   AR42.20-P-0505SX
7 Remove screw/bolt (9) at instrument panel (6)    
8 Remove screw/bolt (5) at support (4) of instrument panel (6) Only on model 221.  
9 Disconnect driver kneebag squib electrical connectors (R12/25) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
10 Unscrew nuts (3) IMPORTANT On vehicles with leather interior, the nuts (3) are replaced by screws/bolts.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nuts *BA91.60-P-1013-01L
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolts *BA91.60-P-1015-01L

11 Remove bolts (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.60-P-1015-01L
SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
12 Remove driver kneebag (1) from instrument panel (6) IMPORTANT If the driver kneebag (1) is replaced, then the defective driver kneebag (1) must be disposed of.

13 Install in the reverse order    
14 Check supplemental restraint system (SRS) with STAR DIAGNOSIS Only when replacing driver kneebag (1) AD00.00-P-2000-04A
