Location

The front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor is integrated in the seat cushion of the front passenger seat.

Task

The seat occupied recognition detects whether the front passenger seat is occupied or not, and notifies the restraint system control unit.

Function

If the front passenger seat is occupied by a person, the pressure load of the seat area increases. This pressure load is recognized by the force sensing resistors integrated in the seat cushions.

The signal is evaluated by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and relayed to the instrument cluster (A1) in order to implement the seat belt reminder warning function.
