Function requirements:

Function

The head restraints in the rear can be adjusted, raised or folded down individually. Folding up the rear head restraints serves the safety and the comfort of the rear passengers.

The rear head restraints are raised by:

Raising via the head restraint folding button

When the head restraint folding button in the front central operating unit is pushed forwards, the rear seats control unit receives the message for raising the two outer rear head restraints via the interior CAN.

The rear seats control unit actuates the left or right rear head restraint inclination adjustment motor, whereupon the head restraints are raised up toward the front.

Raising via the head restraint adjustment switches

By actuating the head restraint adjustment switches, the adjustment request is read in by the corresponding door control unit via the door-LIN. The message for raising the respective rear head restraint is transmitted to the rear seats control unit via the interior CAN.

The rear seats control unit actuates the corresponding head restraint inclination adjustment motor and the corresponding head restraint is raised.

Raising via seat belt buckle request

Automatically raising the left and right rear head restraints serves the safety and the comfort of the respective buckled rear passenger.

The rear SAM control unit reads in the switching state of the left and right rear seat belt buckle switch and thus recognizes whether the seat belt latch of the corresponding seat belt is inserted in the seat belt buckle.

If this is the case, the rear seats control unit actuates the left or right rear head restraint inclination adjustment motor.
