Location
The pressure sensors are located behind the respective door trim.
Task
To detect a side impact in the door area, the pressure sensors measure the air pressure values inside the doors. If the air pressure value increases accordingly (e.g. as a result of the door being pushed in from the outside), the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) activates the relevant sidebag or windowbag.
The pressure sensors perform self-tests and transmit the result to the restraint systems control unit. The measuring range and sensitivity of the pressure sensors are sent to the restraint systems control unit on request and checked for conformity with the programmed equipment.
The production data of the pressure sensors can be output via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
