DTR control unit, component description - GF30.30-P-3210TX
ENGINE 272 in MODEL 221 with CODE (219) Distronic (DTR) up to Model Year 8
ENGINE 273 in MODEL 221 with CODE (219) Distronic (DTR) up to Model Year 8
Location
The DTR control unit is located in the center behind the radiator grille.
Task
The DTR control unit has the following tasks:
- Actuation, supply and evaluation of the signals received by the integrated DTR radar sensor (A89b1)
- Control of target evaluation
- Transmission of data for control of longitudinal movement of the vehicle to the ESP control unit (N47-5)
Design
The DTR radar sensor and the DTR control unit are integrated within the DTR control unit
Function
The cover in the radiator grille, permeable to radar, is necessary for the correct function of the radar. The cover protects the DTR control unit from external interference and guarantees the optimum transmission and reception characteristics of the radar sensor.
The DTR control unit actuates the radar sensor and evaluates the target data. The radar data is transmitted from the DTR control unit via the drive dynamic CAN to the ESP control unit (for control of longitudinal movement of the vehicle by DISTRONIC).
Radar characteristics
- Detection range of the radar sensor from 10 m to 150 m
- Divergence of radar beam 9° (sharp focussing)
- 77 GHz radar sensor according to the "Pulse Doppler Principle" for independent measurement of distance and speed
- Fully-integrated electronic implementation (the DTR control unit contains high-frequency circuits)
