Remove/install rear panoramic roof - AR65.10-P-2000GY: Notes

REMOVING Remove    
1 Fold over all rear seats    
2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key from EIS [EZS] control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).  
3 Remove roller sun blind from rear panoramic roof (1).   AR77.21-P-0204GY
4 Remove headliner   AR68.30-P-4300GZ
5 Remove antenna module   AR82.62-P-8979GZ
6 Unscrew both rear bolts from windowbag on left and right    
7 Remove roof railing IMPORTANT Lay down roof railing in immediate vicinity; it must be easily available when installing rear panoramic roof (1). AR77.40-P-5000GZ
8 Expose repair area IMPORTANT Remove cables and lines from working area and fasten with textile adhesive tape.
IMPORTANT The adhesive seams must be accessible with the cutting blade from the inside; do not damage detachable parts, cables, lines, etc. while cutting out.
 
9 Cover entire load compartment with tarp, pull tarp upward to window edge and fasten with textile adhesive tape IMPORTANT As protection.  
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by slipping when clamping blade in the multicutter and by glass splinters when cutting out bonded windows Always interrupt air supply when inserting or removing blade.
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.

10 Cut out rear panoramic roof (1). NOTES The tailgate (3) must be opened to prevent damage. AR65.10-P-2000-01GY

    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Cup suction tool *WE58.40-Z-1029-11A 
11 Lift rear panoramic roof (1) with cup suction tool. IMPORTANT The rear panoramic roof (1) is not planned to be reinstalled. Dispose of old panoramic roof (1).

INSTALLING Install     
12 Prepare body flange for installing rear panoramic roof (1). IMPORTANT Leave 1 to max. 2 mm of old adhesive bead AR65.10-P-2000-02GY 
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Scraper *WH58.30-Z-1016-04A 
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Replacement blade for scraper *WH58.30-Z-1017-04A 
    Wet/dry vacuum cleaner *WE58.40-Z-1005-03A 
13 Install rubber spacers (arrows). IMPORTANT Install rubber spacers next to adhesive seams.
IMPORTANT Rubber spacers are included in adhesive kit.
 
    Repair kit *BR00.45-Z-1049-02A 
14 Install rear panoramic roof (1) and align, mark installation position. IMPORTANT Observe scaling at front and rear:
  • The rear edge of the roof paneling (2) should be 1 to 2 mm higher than the front of the rear panoramic roof (1).
  • The rear edge of the rear panoramic roof (1) should be 1 to 2 mm higher than the edge of the closed tailgate (3).

IMPORTANT If necessary, use additional rubber spacers.

15 Remove rear panoramic roof (1) NOTES Lay rear panoramic roof (1) with upper side down on soft subsurface to prevent scratching.  
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Cup suction tool *WE58.40-Z-1029-11A 
16 Prepare rear panoramic roof (1) for installation. NOTESOnly use plastic primer  , otherwise the rear panoramic roof (1) can be rendered unusable. AR65.10-P-2000-03GY 
    Repair kit *BR00.45-Z-1049-02A 
17 Apply adhesive bead to body flange IMPORTANT Use two  adhesive kits. One kit is not sufficient. Unpack second adhesive kit and prepare in immediate vicinity.
IMPORTANT Rapidly apply adhesive bead to maintain processing time.
IMPORTANT Immediately press out remaining glue after applying adhesive bead, otherwise cartridges must be disposed of as special waste.

18 Install rear panoramic roof (1)   AR65.10-P-2000-05GY

19 Remove tarp from passenger compartment, reinstall removed parts in repair area.    
20 Tighten nuts on roof railing. IMPORTANT The adhesive must be completed cured!
IMPORTANT Observe scaling on rear panoramic roof (1):
  • The rear edge of the roof paneling (2) should be 1 to 2 mm higher than the front of the rear panoramic roof (1).
  • The rear edge of the rear panoramic roof (1) should be 1 to 2 mm higher than the edge of the closed tailgate (3).

24 Install roller sun blind on rear panoramic roof (1)   AR77.21-P-0204GY
25 Fold up all rear seats
