Function requirements:

Driver seat normalized
Easy entry/exit activated in the instrument cluster

To make it easier to exit the vehicle, the driver seat and steering column are moved to the exit position (steering column up, driver seat back). This is also the entry position.

This procedure is controlled by the driver front seat adjustment control unit with memory.

Trigger conditions

The driver front seat adjustment control unit with memory initiates the entry/exit position under the following conditions:

Removal of transmitter key (A8/1)
Open driver door with circuit 15R
Open driver door with circuit 15C

Abort conditions

Movement to the easy entry/exit position is aborted under the following conditions:

Function requirements not satisfied
Configuration changes in the instrument cluster
Undervoltage or overvoltage
Manual actuation of driver seat adjustment with memory switch group (S91)
Manual actuation of memory button 1, 2, 3 switch (S91s14)
Manual actuation of steering column adjustment switch (S59) or steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch (S59/1) (only 164.8 with steering wheel heater, code 443)
Transmitter key turned from circuit 30 to circuit 15 ON
Ground speed higher than 12 km/h

The abort is canceled by:

Transmitter key turned from circuit 30 to circuit 15C
Transmitter key turned from circuit 15R to circuit 15 ON
Change of memory block number

Movement to the entry/exit position does not occur until the next time a trigger condition is fulfilled.

Repeatedly inserting and removing the transmitter key would induce alternate movement between the easy entry/exit positions and the driving position.

To avoid this the repeat limiter is activated, which limits the number of cycles to five.

The counter is reset when:

the transmitter key is turned to circuit 15R,
if the status of the driver door changes.
