Illustrated on model 220, left wheel lock
Illustrated on model 220, right wheel lock
When the steering wheel is turned, the drive pinion (4b) rests on the gear rack (4j). The rotary valve (4k) is twisted against the pilot bushing (4i) surrounding it via the stabilizer bar (4a) and thus changes the position of the control grooves relative to each other. The pressure oil flow now reaches the right working cylinder (left steer) (I) or the left working cylinder (right steer) (II) and causes the axial movement of the toothed rack (4j) to the right or left.
The oil from the unpressurized working cylinder is displaced. It flows back into the power steering pump reservoir via the open return flow grooves of the pilot bushing (4i).
