Engine in Limp Home Mode and MIL Activated

SERVICE INFORMATION

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the MIL activated and/or engine in limp-home mode due to the following conditions, perform the respective remedy as indicated below.

Condition 1 - Fault codes stored in the ME-SFI control unit. This may be caused by contact problems at the connector between engine wiring harness and throttle valve or air circulation flap.

Condition 2 - Fault code P202E (M16/6 Throttle valve actuator: Line transposed) stored in the ME control unit and MIL stays activated immediately after starting the engine. Valid only for M113K. This may be caused by feedback of voltage supply into the engine control unit via the supercharger clutch.

Condition 1 in M112K  : P2032 and/or P202E stored in ME control module of M112K engine Remedy 1a  : Use kit part no. A112 141 03 25 valid for engines 112.960/961 (refer to Parts Information table).

  1. Remove the throttle valve from the supercharger. Refer to WIS document AR07.61-P-1401SVK.
  2. Apply contact "Santovac" from kit with paintbrush to the contact pins of the connector at the engine harness; wait approximately 10 minutes to allow it to dry.
  3. From the kit, install throttle valve with wiring adapter and dampening.

Condition 1 in M113K  : P2032 and/or P202E and/or P208E stored in ME control module of M113K engine Remedy 1b  : For kit part numbers refer to Parts Information table.

  1. Exchange the original throttle valve actuator with the throttle valve actuator from kit A113 141 06 25 or kit A113 141 05 25 (depending on the models) - refer to Remedy for M112K steps 1, 2 and 3.
  2. Remove the original re-circulating air valve. Refer to WIS document AR09.50-P-8843T.
  3. Apply contact "Santovac" from kit with paintbrush to the contact pins of the connector at the engine harness; wait approximately 10 minutes to allow it to dry.
  4. From the kit, install the re-circulating air valve with wiring adapter and dampening.
CAUTION: The re-circulating air valve must be installed parallel/across from the Supercharger to ensure a leak proof connection  . Follow steps 5 through 8 below.
  5. Start screws only of the re-circulating air valve first, and then mount the supercharger rigidly.
  6. Tighten front screws of the now aligned re-circulating air valve first.
  7. Remove supercharger again. Refer to WIS document AR09.50-P-4705SVK.
  8. Tighten rear screws of the re-circulating air valve at inter-cooler assembly.

Condition 2 in M113K  : P202E stored in ME Control Unit of M113K engine.

Remedy 2  : Install re-circulating air valve wiring harness adapter part number A113 150 08 33.
