Turning lamps, function - GF82.10-P-1004PM

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 25 other vehicles, including the 2007 Mercedes-Benz C350, 2007 Mercedes-Benz C280, 2007 Mercedes-Benz C230, 2006 Mercedes-Benz C55, and 2006 Mercedes-Benz C350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

MODEL 203.0 /2 /7 (except 203.018 /076 /218 /276 /718) as of 24.4.04 with CODE (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit except CODE (950) EVOLUTION AMG sport package

In addition to the low beam the turning lamps in city traffic enable the road to be better illuminated. The turning lamps represent an additional light function, which is realized with the aid of special front fog lamps (turning lamps with integrated fog lamp function). While driving forward, the respective inner front fog lamp is switched on. When reversing, the front fog lamp is inversely actuated.

Function prerequisites for forward driving and standstill without engaged reverse gear:

Function prerequisites for reversing and standstill with engaged reverse gear:

Dependency of steering angle sensor (N49), turn signal indicator and vehicle speed

Only one turning lamp is actuated at a time. If a right request is pending at the steering angle sensor (N49) or the turn signal indicator or on both, then the right fog lamp (E5/2) is actuated. If a left request is pending at the steering angle sensor (N49) or the turn signal indicator or on both, then the left fog lamp (E5/1) is actuated. The turning lamp remains active for as long as the function prerequisites are pending. The turn signal indicator has priority over the steering angle sensor (N49) (exception: reverse gear is engaged). The turning lamp function is undertaken by means of a delayed dimming ramp when switched on or off. The turning lamps are switched on or off by separately adjustable dimming ramps. If the circuit status of "circuit 15 ON" changes to "circuit 15 OFF", then a dimmed switch-off is performed. When reverse gear is engaged, the lamps' function is inverted, i.e., if a right request is pending at the steering angle sensor (N49) or turn signal indicator or on both then the left fog lamp (E5/1) is actuated.

If a left request is pending at the steering angle sensor (N49) or the turn signal indicator or on both, when reverse gear is engaged then the right fog lamp (E5/2) is actuated. Only one turning lamp is actuated at a time, except when the parameterization is changed to "Max. park lighting", in which case both turning lamps are actuated. In order to avoid any temporary lighting of the turning lamps when the selector lever is moved from "P" to "D" (via "R"), then the EIS control unit (N73) message is filtered out for t = 500 ms. A parameter is provided for, which is responsible for a minimum switch-on period below 40 km/h for the lamps (one-touch turn signaling, parking, reversing). The minimum switch-on period starts with the function's cancel condition. During a switch-on or switch-off process, a small offset is programmed, which prevents the lamps from flickering when driving at the threshold value of 40 km/h.

If the lamp is switched off using the light switch module (S1) and if the exterior lamp switch (S1s1) is set back to "AUTO" or "Manual driving lamps position" again, then the turning lamps are only switched on again when the turn signal indicator, steering angle sensor (N49) or the parameters of both permit this.

In the following operating conditions the lamps are switched off immediately without any dimming:
