DIGITAL TELE AID CONTROL MODULE RETROFIT 

SERVICE INFORMATION

WARNING: Do not disconnect the negative battery cable. Extensive reprogramming requirements are otherwise necessary. Wiring harnesses are therefore electrically active.

Severe vehicle damage, personal injury, or death from electrical shock could result.

Exercise extreme caution while executing these installation instructions. Keep the ignition and radio powered OFF through the final test.

Notes on D2B optical fibers

A. RETROFITTING THE DIGITAL TELE AID CONTROL MODULE

  1. Remove the analog Tele Aid control module and install the digital Tele Aid control module.
    • See WIS  document AR82.95-P-0008H, "Removing and installing emergency call system control module"
    NOTE: Incorrect installation of connectors can result in damaged, bent pins.

    Damaged, bent pins will result in component malfunction or failure.

    Inspect connectors before and after installation.

B. VERSION CODING

  1. The retrofitted digital Tele Aid control module is not activated. Activate the digital Tele Aid control module by following the Preliminary Draft of "DAS Procedure - Digital Tele Aid Control Module Retrofit" posted on Star TekInfo  .

    NOTE: The instrument cluster does not display Tele Aid messages. Tele Aid Defective notification is displayed by ICALL, RCALL, and SOS button LEDs staying on. Only Wait/Mute is displayed on the head unit. There are no interface buttons to disconnect Tele Aid or to control volume from the head unit or instrument cluster. The main and back-up Tele Aid antennas have no impedances that might affect service calls in bad antenna signal reception areas. The OBD diagnostics port is a 38-pin port in the wiring harness compartment in the right, rear corner under the hood.
