Rear Axle
NOTE:
During procedures number(s) and letter(s) in parentheses correspond to number(s) and letter(s) inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses is used to point out specific components or movement.
For checking riding height specifications, see FRONT & REAR RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS table. If riding height is not within specification, repair or replace suspension components as necessary. See ADJUSTING RIDING HEIGHT .
- Prepare for chassis alignment check. See PREPARATION FOR RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT .
- Check riding height (vehicle level) at the rear axle via the rear axle shaft inclination. See Figure .
- Prepare for use of Electronic Clinometer (CM 9606), by cleaning measurement points on rear axle shaft.
- The sensor connecting cable (086b) of the measuring sensor (086a) must point towards the center of the vehicle, otherwise there will be measurement inaccuracies.
- Position the measuring sensor (086a) on the rear axle shaft and record the measured value in each case:
- Measuring point 3 (left front).
- Measuring point 4 (right front).
- Check vehicle level specifications, see FRONT & REAR RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS
table. Check the following:
- Observe the maximum permissible difference in riding height (vehicle level) between the left and right side of vehicle.
- The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the riding height and not for calibration.
- If rear riding height is outside of specification, see ADJUSTMENT (EXCEPT ACTIVE BODY CONTROL) under ADJUSTING RIDING HEIGHT.
