Computerized Engine Controls (Me-SFI System): Notes

NOTE: Components and/or systems identified, are not used on all engine applications.

The Motor Electronics Sequential Fuel Injection (ME-SFI) system consists of AIR pump switchover valve, camshaft hall-effect sensor, Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, EGR valve pressure transducer, electric air pump, Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, fuel tank pressure sensor, hot film Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor, knock sensors (left and right side), left front and left rear Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), Motor Electronics Sequential Fuel Injection (ME-SFI) control module, oil sensor (level, temperature and quality), Oxygen Sensor (O2S) (left and right, upstream and downstream), pedal value sensor, pressure sensor, purge control valve, fuel injectors, throttle valve control element, variable camshaft timing solenoid and variable intake manifold switchover valve.

ME-SFI system also interacts (communicates) with various control modules for other vehicle systems which affect engine control system. These various control modules may include, Automatic Air Conditioning (AAC) control unit and module, Drive Authorization System (DAS) control module, electronic selector lever control module, Electronic Stability Program/Speed Sensitive Power Steering/Brake Assist (ESP/SPS/BAS) control module, Electronic Transmission Control (ETC) control module, restraint system control module, steering column control module, suction cooling fan control module and traction control system control module.
