DTC Description (Gear Implausible Or Transmission Leaking)
- Fault Memory & Actuation Of MIL - MIL is turned on after 2 consecutive driving cycles with fault.
- Frequency Of Testing - Continuous.
- Checked Signal Or Status - Calculated gear ratios outside tolerance.
- Permissible Gear Ratio Deviation - -0.20 to 0.20 for 1st/2nd gear, -0.05 to 0.05 for 3rd gear, -0.03 to 0.03 for 4th/5th gear, -0.20 to 0.20 for reverse gear.
- Duration Of Test - Approximately 2 seconds.
- Test Conditions - Engine speed more than 400 RPM, output shaft speed more than 180 RPM with vehicle speed more than 12 MPH (20 km/h) and no shift process.
- Test Sequence - If no shift process is in progress, the ETC module recognizes the gear which has been shifted by the gear ratio. If the gear ratio is outside tolerance or gear recognition is implausible, the modulating pressure is adjusted to its maximum value after approximately 0.5 second. If the gear ratio remains outside tolerance or gear recognition is implausible, fault recognition takes place after approximately one second.
NOTE:
The gear ratios are calculated from the following values; speed signal (n2), speed signal (n3) and output shaft speed (determined via rear wheel speed). Faults are recognized by the Electronic Transmission Control (ETC) module and sent to the ME-SFI control module via the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus. The ME-SFI control module carries out fault memory and actuation of Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). Also read out ETC fault memory for fault code 51.
