	Remove/install
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1	Switch off easy entry/exit function for driver seat and steering wheel	Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275 Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move into a different position if the driver door is opened or closed for example. The upper frame may be damaged when the holding device is installed. The system is switched off via the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display.
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

3.1	Detach lower engine compartment paneling	Model 211 with gasoline engine	AR61.20-P-1105T

3.2	Detach lower soundproofing	Model 211.084 /089 /284 /289	AR94.30-P-5300T
4.1	Unplug connector (a) from control valve of rack-and-pinion steering and unclip line from exhaust shielding plate of steering coupling (23m) and from front axle carrier	Model 220.08/ 28
4.2	Disconnect connector (a) from rack-and-pinion steering control valve	Model 211.08/ 09/ 28/ 29
5	Detach exhaust shielding plate of steering coupling (23m) from control valve of rack-and-pinion steering
6	Detach heat shield (30) from front plate	Model 211.08/ 09/ 28/ 29
7	Unscrew top bolt (25a), unscrew nut (26) and pull out bottom bolt (25b) from steering coupling (25)	To do so rotate steering coupling (25) into corresponding position. Installation:  Model 220: The locking plate (25g) with self-locking nut must  be replaced. Model 211: The top bolt (25a) must be replaced  . Model 211, 220: The nut (26) must  be replaced.

8	Rotate steering wheel into center position and fix in position with retainer	On a disengaged steering coupling (25) the steering wheel should not be turned because the spiral contact coil will be destroyed. Front wheels in straight-ahead position.

9	Carefully pull steering coupling (25) out of control valve of rack-and-pinion steering (toothing on control valve)	Do not use force (hammer impact, strong lever action).
		Installation:  Turn rack-and-pinion steering to center position and fit steering coupling (25).	AR46.20-P-0600-01P
10	Detach steering coupling (25) from the lower steering shaft	Do not use force (hammer blows, excessive leverage) as the lower steering shaft is sensitive to lateral forces.
11	Remove dividing exhaust shielding plate (25f) from steering coupling (25)	To do this, fold up lug (b) and lug (c) and separate the halves.
12	Install in the reverse order
