Easy entry function

(described on left front seat)

Moving the front seat forwards

Pulling the backrest release handle mechanically releases the backrest which can then be tilted forward. When releasing, the left front seat backrest release microswitch (S91/3) is pressed and the change in its applied position is read in by the left front seat adjustment control module with memory (N32). As a result of this the head restraint motor up and down (M27m4) is actuated and the left front head restraint moves against the lower stop, in order to prevent a collision with the roof lining when the backrest is tilted forward.

When the backrest is tilted forward, the left front seat backrest angle microswitch (S91/1) is operated and read in by the control module. As a result of this the forward movement of the seat starts (forward and back motor) (M27m1) and is actuated. If the backrest is tilted back during the forward movement, the seat moves back again.

Once the front limit position is reached the forward movement of the seat stops. The front limit position is approx. 60 mm before the front mechanical stop.

The backrest does not lock in the folded forward position.

Moving the front seat backwards

If the folded forward backrest is folded back into its starting position, the left front seat backrest release microswitch (S91/3) closes. As a result of this the backward movement of the seat starts (forward and back motor (M27m1)). The backrest is mechanically locked in the tilted-back limit position. The obstruction sensor (excess force limiter) is active during the backward movement of the seat. If an obstruction is recognized the seat moves approx.

30 mm forward, but a maximum up to the front limit position for Easy-Entry.

The backward movement of the seat stops once the rear starting position is reached. If the starting position is more than approx. 260 mm behind the front mechanical stop, it is exactly this position which is approached. After locking the backrest and reaching the starting position of the seat fore/aft adjustment, the head restraint also assumes its original starting position again.

Entry/exit aid as of 1.9.02 with code 275a

With the entry/exit aid the seat control module actuates the following control module when the key is removed:

The entry/exit aid enables the driver to get into and out of the vehicle more easily. Before the driver gets out, the steering column is moved upwards and the seat is moved back.

After getting in the position of the seat last adjusted is approached again or the last memory position is approached.

The driving position is stored key-dependent as is the memory position. Because of this if a key is changed a new driving position of seat, steering column and mirrors assigned to the key is adjusted.

The entry/exit aid can be configured via the instrument cluster. The function can be switched off completely or partially (only the steering column is still active).

On the V 220 with individual rear seat system with code 275a the adjustment of a permanently defined position of the front passenger's and rear seat (park position) is possible from the rear door control module.
