(described on front left seat)

Moving seat forward

When the backrest release handle is pulled, the backrest is released mechanically and can be folded forward. When it is released the left front seat backrest release microswitch (S91/3)  is actuated and the change in its switch position is read in by the left front seat adjustment control module with memory (N32/1)  . Then the head restraint raise/lower motor (M27m4) is actuated and the front left head restraint moves toward the bottom stop to prevent a collision with the headliner when the backrest is folded forward. When the backrest is folded forward the left front seatback microswitch (S91/1)  is actuated and read in by the control module. The seat starts moving forward (forward/back motor (M27m1) actuated). If the backrest is returned to the upright position while the seat is moving forward the seat moves back again. After reaching the front end position the seat stops moving forward. The front end position is approx. 60 mm in front of the front mechanical stop. When folded forward the backrest does not lock.

Moving front seat back

If, after being folded forward, the backrest is moved back to its initial position the left front seat backrest release microswitch (S91/3)  locks. Then the seats starts moving back (forward/back motor (M27m1) actuated). When folded back to the end position the backrest locks mechanically. While the seat is moving back the pinch protection (excessive force limitation) is active. If pinching is recognized the seat moves approx. 30 mm forward, however, not further than the front end position for easy entry. After reaching the rear initial position the seat stops moving back. If the initial position is more than approx. 260 mm behind the front mechanical stop this position is actuated. After locking the backrest and reaching the initial position of the fore/aft adjustment the head restraint moves to its initial position as well.
