Power Steering Leaks

SERVICE INFORMATION

If you encounter instances in Model 163 vehicles mentioned above of power steering leaks from the connection to the power steering cooler, a possible cause of this leak may be the clamp used to secure the power steering hose to the cooler not providing sufficient clamping force. Please perform the following:

Turn off engine and remove ignition key.
Open hood.
Loosen existing clamp (1, Fig 1 ) and open sufficiently to remove from around hose (2, Fig 1 ). Clamp (1, Fig 1 ) may be discarded.
Open replacement clamp (3, Fig 1 ) to fit over hose (2, Fig 1 ).
Place replacement clamp in proper position around hose (2, Fig 1 ) and tighten sufficiently to secure hose.
Check power steering fluid level, correct if necessary. Please refer to document AP46.00-P-4611BB.
Start vehicle and check for leakage.
Close hood.
