SERVICE INFORMATION
Effective November 1, 1998, Mercedes-Benz of North America, Inc. is implementing a Panasonic CD changer exchange program for warranty cases. If a Panasonic CD changer is replaced in a warranty situation, it should only be replaced with an exchange unit. Exchange units will be packaged differently and should be used for M-Class warranty exchange repairs only. Exchange units will have a white label placed on them clearly identifying them as a "REMANUFACTURED REPLACEMENT PART". The exchange CD changer will not come with a CD magazine, therefore, the old magazine must be transferred to the new changer. Each defective unit must be returned, with a copy of the Audio System Diagnosis and Return Form (see Fig 1 - additional forms may be ordered via MB-NET under order number S-2664-097) and a return tag (W-420), in the same box the exchange unit came in. (If the Return Form is not returned with the part, the handling charge will be debited.)
