Networking of retractable rear head restraints
Shown on model 210 sedan
The retractable rear head restraints function serves to fold down the head restraints. Thus the driver can, if necessary, improve the view to the rear window.
Function requirements
- no overvoltage/undervoltage
and
- Terminal 15 on or
- Circuit 15R on
The function is triggered by actuating the RHR unlocking switch (S6/1s3) in the upper control panel of the center console. The switch, together with the CL interior switch (S6/1s2) is connected to an input of the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) . The switch state is recorded voltage coded. If a switch contact is closed for longer than 25 seconds, any actuation of the button is ignored. Only after the neutral position has been recognized, will actuation of the button be considered again.
The SAM (N10/1) sends a CAN message to the pneumatic control unit (PSE) combined (A37) . The PSE (A37) releases the pneumatic actuator for the retractable head restraints by vacuum. The head restraints fold down.
If required the head restraints can be returned to their position by hand.
