Test 1: Retractable Rear Headrest Unlocking Circuit
- With rear headrests extended, turn ignition switch to RUN position. When rear headrest switch is pressed, rear headrests should retract. If rear headrests retract, retractable rear headrest system is okay at this time. If rear headrests do not retract, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wiring is okay, check the following as possible cause and repair as necessary:
- Go to next step.
- Perform central locking system TEST 8: DRIVER'S DOOR SWITCH CIRCUIT. See CENTRAL LOCKING under SYSTEM TESTS .
- Perform retractable rear headrest vacuum TEST 1: RETRACTABLE REAR HEADREST SYSTEM VACUUM TEST. See RETRACTABLE REAR HEADREST under VACUUM SYSTEM TESTS .
- Perform pneumatic system vacuum TEST 10: REAR HEADREST VACUUM SUPPLY. See PNEUMATIC SYSTEM EQUIPMENT under VACUUM SYSTEM TESTS .
- PSE control module.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect PSE control module harness connectors. Using Harness Adapter (140 589 13 63 00), connect Breakout Box (129 589 00 21 00) to Pneumatic System Equipment (PSE) control module harness connectors. Measure resistance between terminals No. 13 and 21 at breakout box. When rear headrest retractor switch is not pressed, greater than 20,000 ohms should exist. When rear headrest retractor switch is depressed, less than 40 ohms should exist. If resistance is as specified, retractable rear headrest unlocking circuit is okay at this time. If resistance is not as specified, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wiring is okay, suspect faulty headrest retractor switch.
