The SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) in the instrument cluster is actuated by a ground signal from the airbag control module (N2/7) .
The SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) is actuated when:
- Circuit 15R is "ON" for approx. 5 s (system check) or
- A malfunction is recognized in the system or
- The control module is incorrectly coded or not coded (flashes).
After initial recognition of a malfunction the airbag control module (N2/7) continues to check for approx. 2.5 s whether the malfunction is still present. Then the SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) is actuated. Simultaneously the DCT memory stores the malfunction. The control module checks continuously whether the malfunction which occurred and was recognized is still present. If the malfunction is no longer recognized after a period of approx. 10 s, the SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) goes out. If the DTC memory is full, i.e. 10 malfunctions have been recognized and stored, the SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) comes on continuously.
