Belt Tensioner Control Module with Airbag - Task - GF91.60-P-4006-02B
The airbag control module has the following tasks under normal driving conditions (N2/7):
As of 01.09.02 the catalog designation for the airbag control module is (N2/7) restraint systems control module (N2/7).
- Self-test with circuit "15R ON" and constant system monitoring while driving
- Storing of up to ten detected errors in the diagnostic trouble code memory
- Actuation of the airbag indicator/warning lamp (A1e15) in the instrument cluster when a fault is recognized
- Actuation of warning lamp for automatic child seat recognition (N72e1)/ Airbag OFF indicator lamp, automatic child seat recognition (E16)
- Prevention of false deployments in normal vehicle operation through additional safety sensor
The airbag control module (N2/7) takes over the following tasks in the event of a crash:
- Recognition and evaluation of a collision depending on the type and severity
- Recognition of the switch status of the left front seat buckle switch (S68/3) and right front seat (S68/4) at the instant of the collision (only with
version and on models 215, 220 as of 01.09.02)
- Triggering of the driver's airbag ignition squib (R12/3), of the front passenger's airbag ignition squib 1 (12/4) and front passenger's airbag ignition squib 2 (12/4)
- Triggering of the driver ETR [GUS] ignition squib (R12/1) and front passenger's ETR [GUS] ignition squib (R12/2)
- Triggering of the left rear ETR ignition squib (R12/6)and of the right rear ETR ignition squib (R12/7)
- Triggering of the left front side airbag ignition squib (R12/20) and right front side airbag ignition squib (R12/21)
- Triggering of the left rear side airbag ignition squib (R12/11) and right rear side airbag ignition squib (R12/12)
- Triggering of the left rear window airbag ignition squib (R12/22) and right rear window airbag ignition squib (R12/23)
- As of 01.09.02 triggering of the left window airbag ignition squib (R12/16) and right window airbag ignition squib (R12/17)
- Compiles up to three event data records
- Switching off the engine when airbag is triggered via the motor electronics control module (ME-SFI) (N3/10) (gasoline engined model) (as of 01.09.02 ME-SFI control module (N3/10)) or control module for Electronic Diesel System (EDS) (N39/2) (as of 01.09.02 CDI control module (N3/9))
- Up to 31.05.00: Initiating an emergency call via the emergency call system (TELE AID) control module (A35/8) with integral tilting cone sensor when airbag is triggered, in the event of a severe rear end collision or rollover
- As of 01.06.01: Initiating an emergency call via the CTEL transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) with external tilting cone sensor (B66) when airbag is triggered, in the event of a severe rear end collision or rollover
- Safeguarding the energy reserve (capacitor) for igniting the ignition squibs if the voltage supply fails (Requirement: 5 ignition squibs must be able to be ignited at the same time within 150 ms)
